Indonesian Environmental Leaders to Visit South Florida Ecological Sights
The Miami Council for International Visitors (MCIV) has coordinated a comprehensive itinerary of appointments and cultural experiences for 4 Indonesian participants of the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program on a professional program for Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection.
Their South Florida appointments and excursions will include a park ranger guided visit to Shark Valley in Everglades National Park, a meeting with members of the Miccosukee Tribe and accompanying airboat ride. Subsequent meetings will be held with: the National Parks Conservation Association; a local environmental reporter; the Center for Great Apes; and Plantation High School journalism students who recently won a U.S. Department of State "Doors to Diplomacy" Competition for their Pier2Pier website which seeks to raise awareness of the issues and perils facing wild dolphins and manatees.
Since 1959, MCIV has welcomed thousands of prominent and emerging leaders from around the globe. It is a community, volunteer based, non-profit organization engaged in citizen diplomacy that customizes professional programs, business meetings and hospitality for international dignitaries invited by US Embassies around the world to see and experience the United States of America first-hand in a way that leaves an indelible impression of our government and most importantly our citizens.
